F.A.Q
How do you charge?
We will provide you with a detailed upfront estimate, it will cover the crew fee, sustenance and travel to and from the boat. When the contract is signed a tax invoice will be produced which is payable before departure. All other expenses are settled at the end of the contract.
Do you sail through the night?
Depending on the time of year, weather and passage, our skippers will happily sail continuously. The aim is to get your boat delivered as safely and as efficiently as possible.
Should I provide food?
No, we will provision the boat with basic rations.
Do I need to fuel the boat?
Yes, we prefer you to fill the fuel and water tanks as this can be a timely operation, but if not possible then we can take care of it.
Do I need to provide an expenses float?
No, we will cover the pre-agreed expenses, and provide you with receipts at the end of the journey.
Can I monitor the voyage?
Yes, we will transmit our position using the RYA Safe-Trax. An email or text will be sent to you when we set sail with a link to an online real time tracker.
Will you clean my boat afterwards?
We will of course give the boat a washdown, and clean below deck. We will hand the boat over to you as clean as when we first boarded.
What happens if the delivery is delayed due to weather?
With modern weather forecasting it is unlikely, as we will not plan to sail if the forecast is not suitable. However, we will have an agreed fixed price which allows for a planned sailing timeframe. If, the delivery is delayed past this because of a change in weather, a period a standing time is charged. This will be explained and agreed before contacts are signed, it simply covers our overheads.
What happens if the skipper thinks the boat isn’t seaworthy?
The skipper will not sail if he feels the boat is not sea worthy. Before we set sail, the skipper and crew will give the vessel a comprehensive inspection, listing any faults and a remedial action plan. The inspection time will be factored into the estimate - any further expenses are the responsibility of the owner.
Are you insured?
Yes. Blue Sky Skippers have Third Party Professional Indemnity Insurance. Details will be provided with our contract.
